Is this news?

You just know that the newspaper is having a slow day when the print something like this.

From The Times of India, April 21 2006.

Aishwarya falls from cycle, suffers 'minor abrasions'
BANGALORE: Bollywood actress and former Miss World Aishwarya Rai fell from a bicycle while shooting at Badami in Karnataka's Bagalkote district on Thursday and suffered "minor abrasions", police sources said.

"She suffered minor abrasions in the leg. She was given treatment and there is nothing to worry", a police official said from Bagalkote.

A police official !!! How ridiculous can things get :)

Agreed she is very beautiful, but still ...

I saw the same story.. in multiple papers!

Dude, I was thinking the same thing: she fell down from a cycle, big deal! Do I even want to know that unless I am a maniacal fan of hers?

Tell me how is the audience responding to her latest movie or where was she awarded 'best actress': that's news. But she fell down from a cycle!!! some reporters really need a life ;-)

Comon...its obviously a news...

she is a public figure and people report incidents about them...

I think as far as her falling off the cycle was not printed in Global News or Business News section (Was It?..I am sure it wasn't)..its fine....Have you heard of increasing profitability by focusing on your target market needs (that sounds right out of management books..but believe me it works)....there are people who like to read about public figures and celebrities...thats what the paper was trying to do...

Comon now...won't you agree that George Bush's tripping while delivering a speech will make a news...Mind you I am not saying Aishwarya Rai is as famous as the President of US. But she is a celebrity in India and thats where the news was printed. Period.
